In the KEIAN period, IORIGAWA suffered from crop failures for many years. These crop failures were caused by a wind from the southeast, so a holy priest, NICHIREI placed a statue of KOKUZO BOSATSU and held Buddhist memorial services during 21 days for the suffering villagers.
